Apples

The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

Today I asked Braxton to start unloading the dishwasher while I dropped Calvin off at wrestling. 10 minutes later, I arrived home to a 10 year old boy sobbing in the kitchen. While unloading the dishwasher, he dropped one of our snowman mugs and it broke in 20 little pieces on the floor. He was trying to piece it back together, and asking if there was any way we could glue it. I told him it was gone for good and began putting it in the garbage. He was completely devastated. I held him and asked him if he was crying because he thought he was in trouble.

No, he was crying because he was mourning the loss of the mug. Now, I have to tell you that we have 5 other mugs just like this. He gets attached to "things" just like his dad. And that is why I have to sneak everything in the garbage around here. Like I said....The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

When I told Chris the story he said, "I'm really glad I've taught our son to form attachments to inanimate objects." :)

Sara - I found a quote for my sister that has 3 little boys...it's one of my favorites...

"A little boy is the only thing God can use to make a man."

I have no idea who wrote it, but I love it!

Anyways, just thought I would share. I really enjoy your blog. I have one, but it is private (I'm a freak). If you would like an invite, just send me an e-mail...rebeccahughes@sjc.ceu.edu Have a great day!
