Prayers

Our children always say the same prayer. Not to be sacrilegious or anything, but it goes something like this:

"Dear Heavenly Father: We're thankful for this day. Please bless that we can have a good time. Please bless that we can have fun. Please bless that we can be safe. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."

Sometimes they vary a little, but for the most part, that is the Bishop children family prayer. Well, tonight Braxton asked to say the prayer. After saying the usual above prayer, he threw in a new twist. He said, "Please bless that we won't think about bad guys walking around outside with knives trying to hurt us."

Pretty specific on his requests, huh?! I had to hide my face so he wouldn't see me chuckling after he was finished. It actually kind of makes me sad that he worries about stuff like that.

We have had prayers like that here, too. You always kind of wonder where that came from. Once, when my boys were little, their dad teased them that if they didn't get to bed, the wolves would get them. For the longest time after that, bedtime was pretty difficult. Thanks, dad. Faith can do anything for the young, though. So, hopefully just praying for that was reassuring enough for Braxton.
